The New Wave of Illegal Media
There are only a fraction of the illegal websites there were not more than 5 years ago. It is so easy to get software now a days from torrents and IRC sites it’s ridiculous. Recently a new wave of illegal websites have come along to cater to us media-aholics. TV shows, movies, mp3′s, whatever, it’s all there. This has also provided many people with an easy source of revenue.
I have found so many easy ways to get any type of media instantly that I decided I would share this with everyone else. I will also explain how these sites make money and the possibility for you to easily take advantage of the blatant disregard of copyright laws. Here are some of the best ways to get media on the Internet for free:
DailyEpisodes.com – Possibly the best place to get any television show you want for free. This site has links to everything from The Simpsons to Family Guy, Southpark to The Office. I love almost every show that DailyEpisdoes has. The best part about it is the videos play directly in your browser, just like YouTube. This site is definitely something to bookmark if you love comedy television.
TorrentSpy.com – I decided I would throw in my favorite torrent site just for the hell of it. I’m sure by now everyone knows about a great torrent site that they use and are loyal to, but this site is just excellent. Great graphical layout, easy to use search, and something like 500,000 torrents! You can get any little thing you want, and it’s so easy to use.
allofmp3.com – By now you all must have heard something about this Russian-based website. Does it get any better than an iTunes music store that sells full CD’s for a little more than $3 dollars? This is a fully operating business, not some bootlegger posting music from his mommy’s basement. They have been all over the news lately due to the continuing pressure the United States is putting on the Russian government to ban copyright-violating websites such as this. Recently, Visa and Mastercard have denied allofmp3 users their service, which has cost them loads of money. They have taken legal action against these credit card companies for their recent service denial. The site doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere soon though. If you are sick of paying $12 bucks for a CD on iTunes, this is the site to check out.
dailymotion.com – Dailymotion is the evil step brother of YouTube. It doesn’t have all the features, or even close to the number of users that YouTube brings in. All that aside, dailymotion has some really great content like X-Files and King of the Hill (two of my favorite shows). Although this site is not actually illegal, much of the content uploaded by its’ users is. That just means more good stuff for us.
packetnews.com – I know it’s a little late to add this one since I went through the digg home page already, but my friend just reminded me about this and I dont know how I forgot. For anyone who uses an IRC and doesn’t like sitting there waiting for your packet to come, this is a must have site. Easily search for anything and you will find it.
There are many more of these type of sites on the Internet, but in my opinion these are the best. The main reason that so many sites like this are popping up on the Internet is the money is good and the risk is low. I am mainly talking about sites like dailyepisodes.com, that offer a wide variety of television shows. A person can download content, setup a site, promote it, make money and take down the site before any serious legal action will take place, and here is how its done.
The first thing you need is content. Think of your favorite television show and goto imdb.com and get the episode index. Now that you have the name of all the episodes, go to one of the sites listed above (or google each episode) and download them or grab the code to embed it in your site. Build a very simple site (doesnt even have to look good), set up a Google Adsense account. You have two options now: play the video through the new embeddable FLV player or embed a video from another site. Now that you have content and a site with ads, all you need is traffic! Do what everyone else does to get free traffic, promote your site on every social networking site there is (here is a list of them all).
Now you have everything you need to make some supplemental income. As soon as someone sends you a cease and desist letter, take your content down and look for something new.

Twitter Me!
I’m still surprised that http://astalavista.box.sk/ is still up, actually. I understand that it’s because the stuff they give is only illegal if you actually *use* it, which is hard to verify.
Anyway, it’s a good webspider to go for information on registering nasty shareware programs that nag you. (Ahh, sweet revenge.) Just beware the porn ads and popups.
Hey Kiera, never heard of http://astalavista.box.sk/ but it looks interesting thanks.
Since dailyepisodes legal issues I found (through dailyepisodes.com) http://rapetheweb.com which not only has all of dailyepisodes shows, but a bunch more cartoons, some tv shows, and some full length movies (though unbearable quality on the movies).
I’d also suggest taking a look at http://www.torrentz.com for your torrent files. It not only looks through torrentspy but many other (most?) torrent sites, so you have a lot less looking!
that is totally illegal dude.
Never heard of astalavista.box.sk? Where have you been living?
Cool list. But there is no reliability of these websites. Anytime of the day they might go offline.
astalavista is a legend. But there is a high possibility that you’ll end up with a trojan integrated keygen. Never been to the website since I dumped windows.
Thanks for the websites. I didn’t know DailyEpisodes.com.
Dailymotion is legal!
Lots of warez sites are hosted in hong kong where it isn’t illegal…
is your dailyepisodes link correct? clicking it brings to a quite empty website…
There is a lot bunch -
http://www.scifiepz.com
http://www.jim-e.net
http://www.astalavista.com
http://www.phazeddl.com
these sites exist as forums and host their files on private servers like dreamhost or servage.
members register for free and get the download links from the the threads.
haha, never heard of astalavista, astalavista i pure nostalgia
Just be warned, using BitTorrent has a price. I used to think it was safe and I wouldn’t “get caught”. Well, I got a letter from my ISP a while back telling me that the Business Software Alliance had monitored my use of BitTorrent as I was downloading a copy of WinXP SP2.
I had been trying to find a copy of XP SP2 to try out Boot Camp with. I don’t want to spend $200 only to find out that it doesn’t work or that it’s not really worth it.
Anyway, the fact is that I did in fact get “caught”. I haven’t used it since.
That said, I do plan on using it in the future for some shows being aired in the UK that I want to see. I am just hoping that if I turn off the outgoing part, that I won’t be seen.
…see how easy it is to get people to compromise their PC in the name of free…
http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/astalavista.box.sk
astalavista dosent actually give you anything its a search engine just like Google, except that it references a different selection of sites. And is not providing anything illegal. Just like how bittorrent trackers dont actually host any files
Recently, I have heard news of VISA and MasterCard stop supporting credit card payment to allofmp3.com. That must really explain the reason of it being some skeptical work done behind the door.
Dailyepisodes isn’t what it used to be, its just a link to other sites an to the domain for sale.
well, altavista@box.sk is a real monster, in early days it was moving from one server to another in order to not to be shut down
amazing it still exists these days.. but anyway, who needs sites like this now? we all have p2p software, it makes life easier
Ok maybe I am slow, but I really didn’t see anything happening at DailyEpisodes.com
What am I missing??
Great post. I enjoyed reading it; I found it on Digg, if that means anything. I did, however, find a few interesting points to comment on.
1)DailyEpisodes.com seems to be broken or simply a prepurchased “lurker domain”. I may be committing a Fatal User Error, but if not, maybe it shouldn’t be on the list?
2)Regarding everyone’s personal preference for a particular torrent tracker: I completely understand and agree. But some of the best links I ever get are from user comments on blog posts, so here’s my contribution: http://www.torrentz.com/. Torrentz indexes all the popular trackers and displays the most hits per search, allowing you to pick a website it indexes to download the tracker from; in my mind, it’s almost a “Google” for torrents, and I highly reccomend it.
3)In respects to http://astalavista.box.sk/: please, spare your computer and stay away. Granted, the webspider’s ability to find you a crack for a piece of software may seem worthwhile, but you will soon find out that almost ALL of it’s indexed websites are riddled with spyware, adware, malware, georgebushware (sorry, couldn’t resist), and a truly phenomenal number of viruses. TWICE I got a rootkit from one of it’s indexed sites. Stay away! If you really need a serial, go to http://serials.ws/ because the worst thing you’ll encounter there are porn ads; it’s thoroughly clean.
I hope my comments were relatively entertaining, if not largely enlightening.
This reads like it comes from someone who found the internet last week. Get some friends who know something and you’ll be surprised.
If you do not know about astalavista.box.sk, why do you claim the ability to write an informed article about illegal software activities? You know nothing of the past and you’re writing about the tiny fraction of the illegal software universe that you know about.
You know about the “waves” in the shallow end, but nothing of the rumbles that originated in the ocean. As anyone who studies wave dynamics knows, the waves in the ocean have just as much power as the waves on shore, but they are not visible.
All of these high profile warez operations that operate deserve what they get, a crashing on the shore. Illegal media distribution is illegal media distribution.
Allofmp3.com claims that their model gives money directly to artists, but not a single artist has seen a dime of it.
If you want to blog, perhaps you should learn what you are blogging about. If you don’t, you’re just another idiot on the soapbox.
The really interesting question to ask is where will people get their ill-licensed gains in the next 5 years?
Hi, what u think of this http://anime.peekvid.com/
for anime movie!
re: astalavista
Just beware of nasty viruses, trojans and rootkits included in many Crackers and Key Generators you can find via that site. Some may even to their job of registering/activating your program, but they can also leave problems behind.
astalavista.com is better. Well, its just a frontend page for many other pages tho, but they list what bad stuff comes with the sites too, like popups, trojans etc.
Hey All,
I know there are a lot more illegal sites out there that I did not mention but I just wanted to list my favorites. Anyways thanks for everyones input I really appreciate it, especially the sites I did not know about.
Matt
Oh one more thing: for dailyepisodes, click on the links button because after it got taken down, all it does is link to other sites. It is still good though.
Matt
Safe download without the risk of getting caught (at least for now).
Forum + rapidshare
We are beating down the walls of the Ownerarchy as I type. This kind of trend can only lead to the ultimate dissolution of ownership of information. The ultimate dissolve might be much later, but I’m talking function.
DailyEpisodes.com is for sale. Doesn’t have any of the cool stuff you wrote about…
OK WILL SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THIS IS…DID THIS GUY JUST STEAL MY ARTICLE AND CLAIM IT AS HIS OWN?
Those are call Pingbacks. It means some other blog has written about your article.
There are tons of sites that I know of but the best by far are:
http://warez.to/invisionwarez (games mainly, great site that doesn’t use rapidshare)
http://FreeTube.co.nr (free tv, movies, tv shows)
http://katz.com (directory of piracy)
http://www.limewire.com (p2p great for music)
For some reason, the US at least pretends to show regard for copyright law, but all the other countries completely ignore it.
And more
you know what is really illegal
PSPISO.com
they put up everything there
they should ban them
they put up Music, psp games, movies
etc.
the colours are beautiful
