Site Traffic Rising

Posted by Matthew Berman On December - 6 - 2006

I am finally starting to get some solid traction with my blog. I have some very solid back links, which is causing my Google rank to rise. Many people believe that digg.com and the digg effect do not actually help a sites traffic. This is not true in my case, each time one of my stories such as The Windows XP Hack (2500+ diggs) or Youtube Loses Speed (500+ diggs) hit front page, my websites link was spread across the Internet. Although it gave me a huge surge of traffic that died back down after a few days, it increased my overall traffic. This obviously helped my Google traffic.

I have learned that when you write a viral story such as those, they continue to drive traffic to your site long after their prime. I am finally starting to get some traffic from other search engines besides Google. MSN is sending a few people here and there to my site, although social bookmarking sites still dominate my traffic. Take a look:

I have also hired a few freelance writers to take some of the load off of my back. I will be able to post more content and focus more on building this site. My site is slowly growing, hopefully to become big one day. Thanks to all the readers so far, its been a bumpy start.
