The purpose of this one-page guide is to put all of the resources and information I have found over the years in one central place. I have reviewed and used tons of resources for research, monetization, information, and communication over these past 2 years of this blog and I wanted to make it simple for new comers to find everything they need to make money online. I will be updating this frequently so check back soon for more information. Enjoy!

Monetization -
Because what’s the point of building a site if you can’t make money off of it?

Google Adsense: The same that changed the game of Internet advertising. Sites that receive both millions of pageviews and others that just get a few users per month all use Google Adsense. It is one of the easiest and definitely the most well-known monetization methods out there. Here’s an example of what they look like:

VibrantMedia In-text Ads: This was the original in-text advertising option. I originally used Vibrant Media, but switched to Kontera after trying them both. If you don’t want to use precious ad inventory but would like to add a few extra bucks to your pockets, in-text ads are the way to go.

Kontera In-Text Ads: The closet thing Vibrant Media has to a competitor, Kontera has been around for almost as long. I currently use Kontera, after switching from Vibrant. Their dashboard GUI is cleaner and easier to use and most importantly, the customer service is excellent. I usually receive email replies within 1-4 hours of submitting a question. A great example of their top notch support is when I had asked them for a 125×125 button to promote their referral program. They did not have one but without asking them, took the initiate to make me one.

Marketing -
Bringing customers to your website one visitor at a time.

: Google Adwords definitely has the most volume compared to any other PPC engine. The reason for this is because Google owns 65%+ of the search market, which gives them almost unlimited volume. Also, I have found Adwords to have higher conversion rates because their algorithm is just better. If you have money to spend (since it is usually more expensive), Adwords is for you. You can advertise on both the search results pages, and their content network. The content network is all the publishers that run Google Adsense on their website.

StumbleUpon Ads: At $0.05 flat rate per click, StumbleUpon’s ad network sends relevant traffic at a very low cost.

Twitter.com: Twitter is one of those irrelevant, useless apps that just happened to be very cool and useful. I know I just contradicted myself, but if you use the service you know what I mean. Personally, I use Twitter as a marketing platform. Since none of my friends know how to use the Internet (ok, I exaggerate a little), only my “Internet friends” are connected to me through Twitter. I send updates about what I’m doing, and new blog posts/promotions I am running. I created a prominent button on my blog so people can follow me.

Facebook Ads: I just started testing out Facebook Ads. I do not have much information about it yet, but I have heard both positive and negative things. Some say it converts at a high level if you have the right ad copy, others say it doesn’t convert at all. You can test it out by getting a free $100 worth of ads. All you need to do is add the Visa Business Application and you will receive an email with the coupon code.

Yahoo Search Marketing:

Information -
Knowledge is power.

DigitalPoint Forums: This is THE webmaster forum. They cover all webmaster topics such as programming, affiliate marketing, PPC, server admin, content management systems and even have a huge marketplace. This is definitely a good place to start if you are new to the webmaster forum world.

WickedFire Forums: Dedicated to affiliate marketing, this is still a semi-small forum. Although you can find most of the information on Digital Point, it never hurts to be a member of multiple forums to get multiple opinions.

TechCrunch.com: Former self-proclaimed “average lawyer” Michael Arrington now runs one of the biggest industry news blogs out there. If you want to keep up with new startups, industry news, and even minor feature launches to popular websites, this is the blog to read.

Valleywag.com:

Research -
Keywords, CPC’s, and backlinks oh my!

WordTracker.com: This is something I have used both personally and for my company for years now. Wordtracker is one of the premier keyword research websites. It has an easy interface and relatively accurate information. The reason I say relatively is because no one really knows how many searches a specific keyword gets besides the search engines themselves. Wordtracker is able to give volume numbers that are generally accurate when compared to other numbers.

BuildWith.com:

AboutUs.com:

WordZE.com:

Google Trends:

Yahoo Site Explorer:

Google Keyword External Tool:

SpyFoo.com:

Instant Domain Search: My favorite tool to do domain name research. Just as the name says, you can check if domains are available as quickly as you can type them. This saves a ton of time and allows you to concentrate on the creative side of domain choosing.

Search Engine Optimization -
The natural way to traffic generation.
