Until Grisoft beefs up ewido so it can reliably clean an infested system, I don't recommend using it. Real-time protection limited to scanning memory and scanning files on execution. But the free version only offers on-demand scanning and removal, with no real-time protection, and spyware removal is the product's weakest point. Is there another free anti virus I can install until the AVG experts sort this out, please?
I finally got this response from AVG;If there is no record about this application, proceed as follows:- Save the attached file "remove_ewido.zi_"- Rename "remove_ewido.zi_" to "remove_ewido.zip" and extract itscontents.- Double-click on It continues to exist as Ewido Online Scanner or Ewido Micro Scanner, that uses the full Ewido engine and signatures, without excluding heuristic detection options. It never requested a restart to complete spyware removal, but in a number of cases it blandly reported error while quarantining without suggesting any remedy. One of my spyware samples actively attacks certain antispyware products; I had to run Spyware Doctor, Spy Sweeper, and ZoneAlarm in Safe Mode to scan the system containing this sample.
Ewido Anti-Spyware This software began life as Ewido Security Suite and the name was changed to Ewido Anti-malware in December 2005. With the release of 4.0, it was later changed again So to make one of the four predefined scans happen at a set time, you have to duplicate it as a custom profile. I cannot install AVG 8 as it keeps telling me that it has detected ewido anti-spyware or ewido anti-malware on my PC.
