Agloco Update Part 3

Posted by Matthew Berman On February - 26 - 2007

This is part 3 of my Agloco updates. It all started with a post about Agloco. You can find the other two updates here (part 1) and here (part 2). You can still sign up for Agloco here if you haven’t already.

300 Signups
I have finally reached over 300 Agloco signups. I still barely have any new direct referrals, but as you can see it only takes one strong direct referral to get you many indirects. To be perfectly honest with everyone, I have no idea if this will actually convert into income for me. The best part about promoting Agloco and the Agloco Viewbar is that it costs me no money, I just blog about it every once in a while. Since it costs no money, everyone should be making the little effort it takes to sign people up.

Agloco Viewbar
I still am not sure when the Agloco Viewbar will be released, but it should be very soon. When the Viewbar is released, ill keep everyone updated on how it is doing for me and for its users. People using the Viewbar will appreciate two things: there is a tiny ad window to actually view, and you will be getting paid to view it and surf the net! If you already surf the net (which you obviously do by coming to my page), then there is no reason not to like using this.

Unbanned From Digg

Posted by Matthew Berman On February - 23 - 2007

Today is a very good day for some people, including John Chow. Many people who were previously banned from Digg are now allowed back! Of course everyone took advantage of this right away. The first to do so was JC (because he is EVIL). John had a story on the front page of Digg within 15 minutes of finding out he was unbanned. It is very funny to see how easy it is to play Digg’s system. All you need is a popular person (John Chow) to get many of his followers to digg his story and poof, front page story that easy.

Hopefully one day ill grow a following such as other people have done, and that way I can have my stories hit the front page any time I want as well. Digg still has a lot of work to do in terms of stopping things like this. They are far from a democratic system, it reminds me of high school elections where the most popular kid always wins. Come on Kevin, get with the program.

Talkmatic

Posted by Matthew Berman On February - 14 - 2007

What Is Talkmatic?
I have a new project I have been working on with my friend Tony Chung over at Geekwhat. The name of the site is Talkmatic, and the basic principle is simple: podcast interviews with interesting people in the tech industry. So far Tony has interviewed Seth Sternberg (co-founder) from Meebo, a web-based chat program which I happen to use all the time. It was Tony’s first interview but in my opinion, he did very well. He kept the conversation quick and interesting. One thing he thought about doing is having more controversial questions instead of the lighter material he had be asking.

internet-home-business-talkmatic-icon.JPG

How I Have Been Helping
I have a more behind-the-scenes part in this operation. I have helped Tony monetize his site, as well as some backend stuff. We did a little redesign last night, to make the width of the site larger so ads wouldn’t be taking up the whole screen. We have also discussed putting more content on the site so it’s not just all audio. I was thinking maybe have a page with the transcript of the interview, or possibly a bio of the person being interviewed. Both of these options would increase the value of the site.

In addition to this, I was also able to setup the second interview for Talkmatic. This interview will be released either late tonight or early tomorrow, but I can’t say who it is quite yet. Ill give a little hint, he or she has been mentioned on this blog many times.

Looking Forward
I am very excited about this project, because it has some real potential to become big. Not only that, but I really like the idea and think these interviews can help people such as myself understand what needs to be done to become successful in this industry. These interviews will be with people who have made a mark on the Internet world, and we are lucky that they are willing to share their knowledge with all of us. I will give another update when we launch the second interview, so stay tuned!

Agloco Update Part 2

Posted by Matthew Berman On February - 8 - 2007

This is another update to the Agloco series. You can register for Agloco if you have not already. If you would like to read more about Agloco and the Agloco Viewbar, check out these posts: Agloco is the new AllAdvantage and Agloco Update Part 1. I have been promoting Agloco for a couple months now and have had some success. As you may have noticed I have not gotten any new direct referrals, but this is not a big deal. All you really need is to register a few people who take over the registration for you. This is part of the 20/80 rule: 20% of the people will do 80% of the work.

internet-home-business-agloco-agloco-viewbar.JPG

As you can see, I still have 9 direct referrals. However my indirects grew by 33 this so far this month. This is all basically from one person that I registered. Tom Ferris has signed up more people than me and everyone I signed-up combined. He has done a very good job at promoting Agloco and the Agloco Viewbar, which is supposedly set to release at the end of this month. If you haven’t already registered, I suggest you do asap. If you would like some more information please feel free to email me or comment to this post and ill explain everything I know about Agloco.

MyGamingSpace.com Update

Posted by Matthew Berman On January - 21 - 2007

A little while ago I had a post that introduced my first website launch. Since then I have tried many different tactics to build traffic to the site and grow the user base. Many of the methods I used were successful and I would like to share them with everyone in this update.

For those who don’t know, the website I am speaking of is MyGamingSpace.com. It is a flash gaming site that allows its’ users to take the games and embed them into their MySpace page or website. I have been able to boost the number of members from 800 to 1100+ in just over a month or so. The original boost of traffic came from a game that hit the digg front page somehow (diggers usually hate flash games). This provided my site with the jolt it needed to really start to take off.

Digg – More Than a Traffic Spike
Many people think that hitting the digg front page is worthless after the original traffic spike, but “pro blogger” Darren Rowse and I both seem to agree that there is more value than just a simple traffic spike. The amount of backlinks I received was crucial in starting to get more and more traffic. At the time I purchased mygamingspace.com, the site was getting about 500-700 plays per day. Now the site gets 1500-2000 and even 2500 plays on a good day.

mygamingspacescreen.jpg

Building Links
Beside all of the links I received from digg.com, I have also been able to find many sites that allow link submission with no reciprocal link required. This is a great way to get many free links, which build page rank and traffic. Don’t get me wrong I am not against reciprocal linking but if I added to my page every link I submitted, my site would have hundreds upon hundreds of links on the homepage and obviously that doesn’t work. My suggestion for anyone with a website is to go out and find any sites that allow link submission and get your links out there!

Banner Exchange/Link Exchange

picture-2.png

One thing that has seemed to work well is banner/link exchanges. There are many programs out there that provide an easy way for gaming site owners to link to each other and share traffic, which inevitably builds traffic. Mibbi.com has been doing the best for me so far. Mibbi is a banner exchange program that requires I put a 100×100 pixel banner (shown right) anywhere on my website. As people from my site click on the banner and get sent to other gaming sites, I receive points which eventually gets turned into traffic coming back my way. Here’s a screen shot of my statistics from mibbi:

mibbiscreen.jpg

As you can see I have about a 1:3 ratio of generated to received clicks. This means for every one person I send away from my site, I get 3 in return. This is a great ratio for me. I am currently using 3 banner exchange programs and mibbi doing the best by far. Not only that but the owner is very helpful and hands-on. The other banner exchanges I am using are arcadebanners.com (second best) and arcadetraffic.com (trailing third).

I am also doing link exchanges. There are currently 10 links on my homepage some of which are just friends and others are link exchanges. These exchanges are not doing too well though. They require a minimum amount of traffic sent before they start sending traffic back. I am also competing with bigger sites for ranking of my link on these pages.

Some Negative Points
Although I am doing well overall, not everything is positive. I have had some trouble with my ad revenue. There are so many gaming sites out there that the advertiser competition for ad space is very low causing the cost per click to be very low as well. With Google Adsense I was getting something like 10 cents per click and as low as 2-3 cents per click. Even though I have more traffic on mygamingspace.com than this blog, I make more money here because my ads pay so much more per click. I switched over to Yahoo! ads (YPN) and I am doing much better getting as much as $2 per click. Even though YPN doesn’t have as targeted of ads which translates to less clicks, I am still getting more revenue because of the high cpc.

Conclusion
As traffic continues to rise and the member-base grows, I will be able to land better and better advertising deals. I hope to eventually move to an adnetwork like Tribal Fusion who offers much better campaigns to sites like this. As always suggestions for how to build traffic or increase revenue are always welcome. I will have another site update in a few weeks or so but until then you check out some of the games on my site (mygamingspace.com).

Agloco Update

Posted by Matthew Berman On January - 18 - 2007

This is an update to the post AllAdvantage is Back! I somewhat gave up on getting people to sign up with Agloco because after a few weeks of promoting it, I only had a few sign-ups.

aglocobanner.JPG

Today however, as I was talking to John Chow, he informed me that he had reached 3000+ sign-ups and was still going strong waiting for the release of the program. The first time around John made huge amounts of money, i’m talking thousands from this program and he is hoping to reach that goal again.

This is what gave me the boost needed to start checking my Agloco sign-ups again. To my surprise, I was up to 119 sign-ups as of today! I had 6 direct sign-ups and the rest were indirect. Regardless I get paid for all of them.

aglocosignups.JPG

For those of you who don’t already know what AllAdvantage was, or the new Agloco is, check out this post. I want to continue getting people signed-up for Agloco so when the client is released, we can all make a lot of money!

I already know tons of webmasters getting on the Agloco train early, such as Tom Ferris and obviously John Chow. I would like to hit 200 sign-ups by the end of this month and I think I can do it with everyones help. If you haven’t already signed-up, you can still do so. Also, you can comment to this post or email me and ill give you more information about the program or signing up. Please feel free to contact me.

Update on Moola

Posted by Matthew Berman On December - 27 - 2006

If you have not read my article about Moola.com, you should probably read that before continuing here. I had praised them for their great idea and execution of their website. For those who don’t know moola.com is a site where they give you one penny and by playing simple strategic webgames, you can turn it into $10 million. Again, check out the Moola article for more information.

Unfortunately, instead of praises this time I have been very disappointed in the past week and will only be giving them negative feedback now. Here is how it all started. After playing for a day or two, I was not able to get past 5 or so wins. This did not bother me at all because I realize if they are giving away $10 million, they better make it very hard. The problem started when I began to get disconnected for no reason I would click my bid during a game, and less than a second later it would say I lost because my bid was not received in time. Granted losing 32 cents isn’t a blow to my wallet, but after spending hours trying to build up to 32 cents it gets very annoying having it taken from you.

Now they do offer a way to investigate what happened and possibly get your money back, but after emailing them over 7 times with all the information they needed, I still received no response. This problem continued to happen till about the time I decided to write this post. I got sick of winning and then losing for no reason. This was especially annoying because I watched every ad they threw in front of me and answered all the questions.

So with no response from them and the continuation of the disconnection issue, I do not think I will be using the site anymore for a while. With such a great idea, it is frustrating that they have such poor execution or staff (sorry guys). Ill check back in a little while to see if they fixed these issues. One thing I must say as a user and webmaster is that a quick response time means A LOT to people! Come on guys, let’s get it together over there.

Pay Per Post

Posted by Matthew Berman On December - 18 - 2006

I have been reading lately that Pay Per Post has made many low-traffic bloggers some pretty decent money. John Chow has recently written an article about the highest paying ad network for low-traffic blogs. Step aside adsense, Pay Per Post definitely takes the lead on this.

Before going any further, I would like to state that this is not a paid post. I currently am monetizing my blog with two ad networks, and adding a third way to make money with this site just seems like stepping over the line between a blog and a billboard.

I will be testing the value of Pay Per Post. I am not a huge fan of whoring my site out to advertisements, but this is more like an experiment. One of my next posts coming soon will be a Pay Per Post. I will clearly label it to make sure everyone knows I am not trying to pedal a random company.

Now a little about the companies product. Advertisers pay bloggers such as myself to write about their product. One main point I don’t like is that some advertisers require you to review their product in a positive light. All campaigns are marked which can be positive or negative and which can just be positive. I have heard of many people who make pretty decent money using this service. At $5-$10 per post (50-100 words), I would have to write many articles to consider having made a “good profit.”

There is no harm in trying however. I will try to get a paid post out by the end of the week. Hopefully my readers arent too offended and they understand this will only be a test and not a continuing thing. If anyone has already experimented with this, please comment how it worked for you.

Snap Is Awesome!

Posted by Matthew Berman On December - 3 - 2006

I just found this nice little thing called Snap from Snap.com. If you almost clicked on that link I just gave, you will already know what I am going to say. Basically Snap is a website/blog addon that gives you the feature of link preview. It only took about 2 minutes of registration and 3 lines of code to install this and everything worked perfectly. Just hover over that link and see a preview of my site. Awesome! Also, it doesn’t overlap or give errors with IntelliTXT or my other ads. So go get Snap on your site now, its free and easy.

AllAdvantage Is Back!

Posted by Matthew Berman On December - 1 - 2006

So my friend John Chow finally convinced me to get in on this before it blows up. He also allowed me to copy his post about it so I don’t have to write another entire post explaining what it is. So check this out, then sign up for Agloco (new name) and start earning money! Here is John’s article:

=========================================================

I can’t believe it! AllAdvantage is back! For those who don’t know, AllAdvantage was a site that paid you to surf the Internet. What’s more, it paid you when you refer other people to surf, and paid you again if those people referred other people – down four levels.

AllAdvantage 2.0 comes with a new name, AGLOCO, which stands for A Global Community. This time, the founders are doing things a bit differently. They said that AllAdvantage failed the last time because the timing, and not the concept, was bad. They may be right, and there is certainly nothing wrong with trying again. If they can sign up as many people as they did last time, and the advertising market doesn’t implode, I say they will have a success on their hands.

The AGLOCO Viewbar

alladvantage2.jpg

The Viewbar that is installed at the bottom of the browser is back but instead of paying a flat fee per hour like the last time, it will give you a share of income the Viewbar earns. In addition, that income may be paid in stocks as well as cash. This avoids the mistake of paying out more than they make, which was what AllAdvantage did.

The Viewbar features privacy protection, spyware protection, phishing protection, member IM and voice communications, RSS feeds, broadcast communication, community tips and other functions.

Sharing income with users is nothing new. Tons of sites and many revenue sharing forums do that already. What is unique about AGLOCO is their multi-leveling marketing model.

Network Marketing

agloco1.jpg

When you run the AGLOCO Viewbar, AGLOCO will pay to you to surf the web (currently up to 5 hours/month). Once the five hours are up, you can turn the Viewbar off until next month. However, you also make money on every hour for people you referred when they surf, and income is made for every hour for people they referred down to 4 levels. There is no cap on how much you can make because of this.

agloco2.jpg

According to the AGLOCO member calculator, if you sign up 10 people and those referrals sign up 5 people, and those sign up five all the way down the 4 four levels, you would earn 9,767.50 per month! However, before you start doing jumping jacks, that figure is not a dollar amount – it reflects earnings in both cash and stock of the company. The stock price has yet to be determined.

AGLOCO plans to be a 100% member owned company. The amount of shares you own is based on how many members you refer. The company will share advertising and affiliate revenues with its members. Company management will gets 10% of revenue as their fee for running the place. The remaining amount will then be distributed to company shareholders (the members). The amount you make is based on how many shares you own, which in turn is based on how many people you refer.

Before AllAdvantage died with the dot com crash, I signed up over 10,000 people and made over $25,000, so I know the concept does work. Will I be able to make $25,000 from AGLOCO? That remains to be seen but I’m looking forward to trying. This looks like another case study in the making!

Once you sign up you will be given a user ID. Use this ID to sign up other people. The easiest way to do that is the put the ID into the URL. For example. www.agloco.com/r/BBBB1089 is *my URL. Just replace the BBBB1089 with your ID and you’ll get credit for all signs from your link.
=========================================================

So sign up for Agloco and earn plenty of money!
