SC delete removes the main service entry from the registry--leaves behind some legacy reg entries but all of them should be just orphans anyway. Now that I have the services thing gone, I’m getting ready to try ‘AVG Remover’ one more time hoping it might clean up the registry some more. It just won't let go! navigate here

If you try to install a new version of AVG or some other antivirus, you cant because it believes that the old AVG is still installed. I think a good rule of thumb is not to use any software that requires a special tool to uninstall it properly. Last edit at 05/03/08 01:44PM by BIG AL 43.

Well I’m right back in the same death match I was in before. I tried to uninstall the usual way but uninstallation would fail, tried installing and repair installing AVG over the top and that would fail also. RIGHT click on the error. Hmmmm, interesting.

Other programmes trigger Ashampoo for authorisation of programmes however AVG8 does not trigger Ashampoo Firewall permission box. I seem to be fixing more problems lately. After it fixed the problem, AVG loaded fine and updated fine and then I did a full scan and it found another trojan horse virus.
