ATI Radeon 9800 Grahics Card Problem.

Unfortunately, the computer now 'bleeps' when I switch it on again as previously. would that help out my problems ?? Others report that 3.4 and 3.2 also solid - NB can see drop in fps tho. 4) Memory. However, "freezing" is more indicative of a "software" problem (like a bad driver) rather than hardware/electrical (which would cause a crash/reboot). Source

I did find *one* thing that helps a little: If you dial down Video Accelleration one step (right click desktop, click Settings Tab, Advanced button, and on the ATI Troubleshooting Tab), however, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of buying such a graphics card in the first place? and it supports agp x8 and fast write... this is why your cards are crashing out!!!.

Even so, I would prefer a card with a better cooling system, as it seems that in both cases, the cards have run hot and become dysfunctional. You name it, I've done it. Please help Radeon 9800Pro 256mb Need Help Please Need help on Radeon 9800 Pro problem Can't find your answer ?

Whenever I try to install either omega or catalyst drivers, I keep getting random crashes, and sometimes the machine just automatically restarts itself. I have removed the case and found the fan on the graphics card to be running, so it is not that any more. i need counter strike haha has anyone had this same problem or could it be my card perhaps? All I know is that the card was running good, with two monitors running together. http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/171855-ati-radeon-9800-pro-problem.html The stock fan on most high-end cards nowadays are typically only good enough to keep the card cool under "typical" daily usage.

This was about three years ago now. I re-jigged my power cables... I tried asking ATI for help, but they just tell me "it's probably a configuration issue". put my at icard back in then it would do the exact same thing as before BUT i got round it by using the last known settings that worked in my

The 9800Pro had a AUX power connector that needed to be plugged in, it was the same Molex connector used on HD and optical drives. http://internetbusinessdaily.net/ati-radeon/ati-radeon-9800-pro-cs-problems.html All Rights Reserved. at first, i thought the CPU temp gauge was broken (reading above 70C for my p4 2.4 B). but when I touch the heatsinks on the card - they are hardly warm! I think I found what is causing the problem. have a peek here Login now.

Sometimes I get an 'ATi apologises for the interruption . . .' message, sometimes it comes up with 'There was a problem with Java scripting etc ' and occasionally I get I also have a Linux installation (same machine, dual boot) that is rock solid. i found that when u instal a 9800 pro it usualy puts a wrong registry value for the LargePageMinimum just hit start, run, type in regedit, then [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management] after Check This Out The Zalman looks like a giant CPU cooler that sits atop the GPU.

I do always ensure I try the latest drivers, and 'next most recent' drivers for *everything*. Have you run any 3D tests to see the result? They supply a power cable with three connectors. Did you have to remove the stock HSF to attach the new cooler?

The memory was Cas2 Corsair low latency, 2x512MB. (running minorly OC'd AMD 2500+) When I played BF1942/desert combat I would get the crash to desktop as well. (on Win XP, with I've installed ATI's Linux driver on it, but since I'm running Fedora ("X-Server" kernal, which they don't support), I get no accelleration. Farcry works lbrilliantly on all graphics set on Very High. therefore, i'm thinking that there's not enough cooling.
