I am quite certain the problem will disappear after that. This is a step a lot of people forget when they reformat and I believe could be the cause of your problem... I read the manual and it says that i cant use AGP 2X VGA cards, but my card is 8X!!! This is supposed to speed up the process but in reality the results are mixed.

I purchased the card and it was working fine for the first few hours, but as of late crashes during games (World of Warcraft, specifically). Just buy a new one and your prob is solved.
This may help some of you. Also if you notice the vendor id, sub id, and sub vendor id are all the same (which is why I can't register the card). Although they do not effect blender [the bf-blender tree], they are still there and may become a problem in the future if you continue to not update your drivers or not I have a poor system granted, but it doesn't seem to be that.

But when I opened BLender and saw the window with the name and version number of Blender (wich disappears when you move your mouse) my PC freezed totally. thanks. after installation the problems disappeared. I suspect that these problems stem largely from conflicts between chips on the graphics card and the motherboard which only become apparent when a particular application is used. good luck Vincent ?
