#1 Spot for “Matthew Berman”

Posted by Matthew Berman On May - 18 - 2007

There are a lot of ways to make money on the internet, but sometimes it’s not about the money. This is one of those cases. I have a new goal for my blog, to obtain the number 1 spot for the search term “Matthew Berman.” I am currently #7 for my own name! This is not right. You can see how I am doing here. This will not be an easy task because I have something like 3 .edu domains to be and a .org. These will be very hard to take over.

I will implement all of the same SEO tactics that I use for any other keyword I am trying to tackle. You can see some of my SEO tips here. I will update everyone on how I am doing on this in a few weeks, till then wish me luck! Anyone who can help me with my goal will be greatly appreciated!

I set up the same goal a month or two ago. Done. ;)

A tip: put your name in your blog title.

1. Setup a 3 page site on matthewberman.com
2. Get five links using your name as anchor text
3. Put your name in your title tag
4. Register at a few sites you can put a link back to your site.

That or get 10 links to this page with your name as the anchor text.

>These will be very hard to take over.

Shouldn’t be difficult at all.

I already own matthewberman.com and it points to this site. I want the keyword matthew berman to come to IBD. I am also trying to beat out .edu’s and .org’s. If i make matthewberman.com it’s own site, the traffic will go there and not to Internet Business daily. Am i confused?

I agree with the first poster – put your name on your homepage title.

Then the question becomes – how do you get the top TEN spots for your name;)

Post frequently, do on-page SEO, get as many links as you can to your personal site and finally connect a Wikipedia article to your name without showing vanity. I strongly suggest you use your own press releases and information on yourself in order to build a Wikipedia article on yourself or have someone post an article on Wikipedia about you. Press is crucial and posts from other third-party figures is key. As for Wikipedia, check out my post on

I need a press release to build a Wikipedia page? I don’t think I have anyone to give a press release to! haha.

Thanks for the comment Miles.
